Starting off strong in Forti Flora we have Liver flavouring in there. From what animal? Is it real liver? I’m not quite sure as they don’t specify.
FortiFlora contains a special strain of probiotic Enterococcus Faecium that promotes intestinal health and balance, as well as promotes immune health.
But that is the only one probiotic strain in the whole ingredient panel compared to Love Bugs, which has 14 strains.
Love Bug’s 14 diverse strains are lactose free & allergen free. Each strain has a different benefit which is why you want to use a multi strain probiotic.

Streptococcus Thermophilus is known as one of the more potent and powerful probiotic strains and has been well researched. S. thermophilus is most readily available within the colon. It is best known for its role in supporting a healthy colon, GI tract, and immune system.

When looking at a probiotic you want one with a high Colony Forming Unit count, a high CFU count ensures the probiotic will survive all the way through your dog’s whole digestive tract. Forti Flora has a CFU count of 100 million. Love Bugs has an impressive, 30 billion CFU count!
The majority of the rest of ingredients in Forti Flora is synthetic vitamins and minerals, but synthetics are not as bioavailable to your dog as whole food sources. Synthetic vitamins are prepared from chemicals instead of nature, they are less active biologically than their natural counterparts, thereby greatly reducing the beneficial effect they may have.
Sodium Selenite is listed in the ingredients, when consumed in small amounts with the necessary cofactors, is a anticarcinogenic and an antioxidant. But when consumed in higher amounts daily as a synthetic additive, it can be very damaging to the health of your pets and has been found to cause cancer and inflammation, and may be toxic to blood, kidneys, liver, skin and the central nervous system of your pet.
Prebiotics serve as food for probiotics, so probiotics need access to prebiotics to work effectively and have time to colonize inside the body.
What I love about Love Bugs is that they use an extract from the Larch tree for the prebiotic. Larch has been used alongside cancer therapies and even blocks metastasis of tumors. It also supports colon health and is used to treat autoimmune diseases. All wild animals eat tree bark. It would be the closest thing that a wild dog or cat would go out and actually consume, through the guts of their prey!
